Pure and Applied Chemistry

The Department of Industrial Chemistry is dedicated to providing quality education and training in chemical sciences with a strong emphasis on industrial applications, innovation, and research. Chemistry remains a key driver of industrial development worldwide, underpinning advances in manufacturing, healthcare, agriculture, environmental management, and technology. The programme equips students with the scientific knowledge and practical skills required to contribute meaningfully to industrial growth, technological advancement, and sustainable development. The curriculum is designed to provide students with a solid foundation in chemical sciences while emphasizing practical laboratory work, industrial applications, and entrepreneurship. Students are exposed to extensive industrial training through supervised industrial attachments, enabling them to gain hands-on experience and develop the professional competencies required for careers in manufacturing, research, quality control, environmental management, petrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, food processing, and other chemical-based industries. The programme also encourages innovation and entrepreneurial skills that prepare graduates for self-employment and business development. The vision of the Department is to develop competent graduates with a strong foundation in chemical sciences, critical thinking and research skills, industry-relevant expertise, and the capacity to apply chemistry in addressing societal challenges and advancing sustainable development.
