Educational Foundations

The Department of Mathematical Sciences at Veritas University Abuja is a newly established academic unit dedicated to advancing knowledge, innovation, and excellence in mathematics and its applications. In line with the University’s commitment to truth and intellectual development, the Department serves as a center for critical thinking and problem-solving across a wide range of disciplines. The Department offers training in key areas including Applied Mathematics, Pure Mathematics, and Statistics, ensuring that students acquire both strong theoretical foundations and practical skills relevant to today’s data-driven and technology-oriented world. Its curriculum is designed to meet international standards while equipping students with analytical reasoning and quantitative problem-solving abilities. Committed to academic and research excellence, the Department fosters innovative research aimed at addressing national and global challenges in science, technology, and industry. It prepares graduates for diverse and impactful careers in academia, finance, data science, engineering, and related fields. Program Overview & Admission Information

Eligibility Criteria
Admission of students is guided by the University, JAMB and NUC. The entry requirements shall be at least credit level passes in five subjects including English Language, Mathematics, and Physics to form the core subjects with credit in any other two relevant science subjects at the Senior Secondary Certificate (SSC) or its equivalent. In addition, an acceptable pass in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), with appropriate subject combination is required for admission into 100 Level. Direct Entry: Candidates with two A level passes (graded A-E) at the GCE/IJMB Advanced Level in relevant subjects (Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry) may be admitted into 200- level. Admission may also be offered to other recognized qualifications approved by NUC and Veritas University.

  • Create an account using a valid email address.
  • Complete the online application form.
  • Upload required documents (O'Level results, JAMB slip, etc.).
  • Pay the application fee as indicated on the portal.
Completion Requirements
Students are required to pass a minimum of 120 credits and 90 credits for UTME and Direct entry students respectively. Students must maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 1.50 to qualify for graduation and also complete and defend a final-year research project in Mathematical Sciences. Students must also fulfill community service obligations and compliance with university regulations.
