Today, November 21, 2019 is historic in the life of Veritas University, Abuja, as the University witnessed the foundation laying ceremony of the University Police Station by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Bwari Police Division, who was represented by the Superintendent of Police (SP), Anje A. Ofor (DCO) of Bwari Division.

The ceremony, which commenced at 11:15am, was anchored by Richard A. Ugbe. The opening prayer was said by Rev. Fr. Dr.  Anthony Amadi, CSSP.

A brief introduction about the project was done by Rev. Fr. (Dr) Martin Onukwuba, Director of Development. Fr. Martin noted that the idea of the police station was to provide security for both Veritas University Community and the host Communities. He commended the Chiefs of Zuma and Gaba for providing the land for which the project was been sited. Fr. Martin also introduced the staff of the University that were present namely, Rev. Fr. Anthony Amadi, Chairman, Security Committee, Rev. Fr. (Dr) Valentine Owunjiogu, Public Relations Officer, Barr. Francis Ochei, Legal Adviser, Architect Elisha Dikko and the Registrar, Dr. (Mrs) Stella Okonkwo.

The prince of Zuma II, Prince John also introduced the various chiefs that were in attendance; Chief Linus Ukah (Chief, Igbo Community, Zuma II), Chief Samson Swem (Chief, TIV Community, Zuma II), Chief Peter Kudayi (Chief, Zuma) and other Council members present.

The DPO, Bwari Division, represented by SP Anje A. Ofor (DCO) also introduced his team members and thanked the University for the Great Initiative to establish a Police Station, which according to him will serve not the University, but the host communities and other communities around the University as well.

The Chief of Gaba, Chief also came while SP Anje A. Ofor (DCO) was addressing the crowd. He was later invited to greet the crowd. He was full of praise to the University for the Initiative, noting that the idea of a police station was long overdue. But since it pleases God to provide them a police station, he was very grateful for it.

A presentation of the plan was done by Architect Elisha Dikko. He noted that the Police Station was a very unique plan which includes a waiting area and a counter, male and female cell, 3 police officers’ offices, a kitchen, armored room and toilets.¬†

The Foundation Laying proper was done by SP Anje A. Ofor (DCO) and a short prayer was offered by Rev. Fr. Dr. Anthony Amadi, CSSP, in appreciation to God for the initiative.

A vote of thanks was done by Rev. Fr. (Dr) Valentine Owunnjiogu, who also said the closing prayer.
