The Veritas University on Wednesday 10 January, 2024 hosted Cardinal Onayekan and his longtime friend, Bishop Thomas John Paprocki of the Catholic Diocese of Springfield, United States of America and five others as part of efforts by the Cardinal to solicit support for the University in areas of funding and academic cooperation.

Bishop Paprocki was joined by two other academics: Dr David Hilyer, a Physicist and Atomic Scientist and Dr. Chris Hoofman, a chemical Scientist and Engineer. Other members of the team were Mrs Donna Moore, Rev Dominic Rankin, Secretary and Master of Ceremonies to Bishop Paprocki, Fr Peter Chineke University Chaplain and Master of Ceremonies to the Bishop and Mr Emmanuel Chineke, brother to Fr Chineke.

Members of the team Visited at the instance of Cardinal Onayekan who said he decided to invite his longtime friend to visit the university to see things for himself and explore possible areas of future collaboration with the university.

Although details of possible areas of cooperation are still being worked out, it was gathered that the Bishop and his team may use their influence to attract possible assistance to the University in areas of funding, research and possible professorial endowment. The Vice Chancellor of Veritas University, Prof. Rev Fr Hyacinth Ichoku who hosted the delegation to a lunch after the Wednesday Community mass expressed appreciation to the Cardinal for taking time out to bring his friends to the University.

He appealed to other well-meaning individuals to take a cue from the cardinal to assist in whatever way they can to make the University the leading private university in the country.
