The president of the Catholic Bishop Conference of Nigeria and Visitor, Veritas University Abuja, Most Rev. Lucius Ugorji, on Wednesday, 23rd August 2023 commissioned two magnificent buildings in Veritas University Abuja. The facilities include the faculty of health building and e-Library which was donated by the Association of Papal Knights and Medalists in Nigeria (APKMN).

Ugorji who also is the Catholic ArchBishop of Owerri Diocese, was fascinated by the developmental strides of the Vice Chancellor of Veritas University, Rev. Fr. Prof. Hyacinth Ichoku, whom he said, “always spring surprises.” While speaking at the event, the Chairman of the Governing Council of Veritas University Abuja and Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Most Rev. Matthew Hassan Kukah, reiterates the target of the founders of the university which is to bring the institution to the league of world best Universities while maintaining the highest moral standards which the Catholic Church is known for worldwide.

In her address, the National president of the Association of Papal Knights and Medalists in Nigeria, Rt. Hon. Dr. Dame Esther Uduehi, stated that the donation of the e-Library is in fulfillment of the objectives for which the association was established. According to her “the decision of the association to embark on the construction of the e-Library in Veritas university was influenced by an understanding and belief that an e-library is very essential in learning and research.” The Vice Chancellor, Veritas University Abuja, Rev. Fr. Prof. Hyacinth Ichoku, while expressing his profound gratitude to the Association of Papal Knights and Papal Medalists for their thoughtfulness in initiating e-library project, invites more generous donations from those willing to do so. He said, “those who may want to contribute smaller projects, such as endowment of Professorial Chair, scholarship for students, classroom and office furniture, books etc, we shall gratefully accept any such form of assistance to the university as we aspire to build a world-class university according to the vision of our Founding Fathers.” Prof. Ichoku promised that such contributions would be fully and judiciously used for development of the university.
