8th Convocation Ceremony of Veritas University

The 8th Convocation Ceremony of Veritas University, Abuja commenced at 9:10am with the Eucharistic Celebration, in thanksgiving to God for the successes the University has made so far. The Mass, which was celebrated by the President, Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria (CBCN), Archbishop Augustine Akubeze and concelebrated by the Metropolitan of Abuja Ecclesiastical Province, Archbishop Ignatius A. Kaigama, the Secretary General of the CBCN, priests and a Deacon was well attended by both the invited guests, staff and students of the University.
In his homily, the Archbishop mentioned that the Church was celebrating the Chair of St. Peter, the successor of Christ and the first Pope. He noted that the celebration of the Chair of St. Peter was to remind us of the authority of Peter and encouraged followers to respect and regard the Pope as the successor of St Peter. In order to do this, we must listen to the successors of St. Peter, especially as it pertains the teaching of the Magisterium. The Chair of St. Peter also calls for unity amongst Christians, because where there is disunity, there will also be discord and disorder. He earnestly prayed for Pope Francis and unity amongst Christians. The Mass came to close at 10:30am.
