SUBMISSION GUIDE:
Manuscripts should be submitted by one of the authors of the manuscript via email to vunajournalhir@veritas.edu.ng
Only electronic PDF or Word (.doc, .docx,) files will be acknowledged. Special characters should not be included in the file name of the main manuscript file. Submissions by anyone other than one of the authors will not be accepted. The submitting author takes responsibility for the manuscript during submission and peer review.
Terms of submission Manuscripts must be submitted on the understanding that they have not been published elsewhere and are only being considered by this journal. The submitting author is responsible for ensuring that the article’s publication has been approved by all the other co-authors. It is also the submitting author's responsibility to ensure that the article has all necessary institutional approvals. Only an acknowledgment from the editorial office officially establishes the date of receipt. Further correspondence and proofs will be sent to the corresponding author before publication. It is a condition of submission that the authors permit editing of the manuscript for readability. All submissions are bound by the Journal terms of service.
Publication Fees The article processing charge (APC) for each manuscript accepted for publication after peer-review is N20, 000 ($45USD). There is a submission fee ofN5,000 ($10USD).
Some universities and donor agencies allocate funds to cover article processing fees; authors should check with their departments and libraries to determine if funds are available to cover open access publication expenses.
Peer Review Proces: In order to ensure the best quality of the journal, articles will be subjected to a rigorous double-blind peer-review process in which both the authors' and reviewers' identities will be concealed. All articles (with the exception of Editorials, Commentaries, and Book Reviews) will be sent out for review, and at least two review reports will be collected for each article. Editors of the journal will carefully select reviewers for each submitted publication based on the following criteria:
Not be associated with the author's institution(s).
Hold a PhD or be a recognized authority in the field;
Not having co-authored articles with the author(s) within the last five years;
Even if, in theory, a double-blind peer-review system could permit this task to be performed by scholars who are familiar with the authors, our Editorial Office insists that reviews be completed only by reviewers who have had no recent professional contact with the authors in order to ensure that there are no conflicts of interest and that the reviews are truly objective. No spontaneous applications from academics to join the pool of reviewers for the journal will be considered. The Editorial Office will choose and invite reviewers for each submitted manuscript based on their competence in the respective discipline. Reviewers will be required to complete their evaluation within two weeks, but may request an extension to finish and submit their assessment. The Instructions for Reviewers contains all pertinent information for reviewers.
The reviewers will receive a certificate of review regardless of whether the article is accepted for publication or not. This is to recognize the time spent reviewing a VUNA Journal of History and International Relations article. Such certifications may be presented for any purpose (promotions, appointments, etc.) by reviewers to their institutions.
