The Veritas University, Abuja (The Catholic University of Nigeria), established in 2007 is already blazing the trail in setting policies, principles and procedures to drive quality assurance and improvement in the University. As part of the structures to facilitate the quality drive, the Veritas University Quality Assurance Office was established in 2010. The Quality Assurance Office is headed by a Director and works with a team known as the Quality Assurance Coordinating Committee (QACC) with student representatives. At the policy level is the VUNA Quality Assurance Committee (QAC), headed by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Michael Kwanashie with the Director of Quality Assurance as Secretary. All principal officers of the University as well as Deans of Academic programmes and Student Affairs are members of the QAC. It is expected that as the University grows and expands, each academic and support service unit will have a functional Quality Assurance Coordinating Committee to ensure that quality assurance and improvement is not only inclusive but is valued as both individual and communal ownership.
At the moment, our University is one of the institutions involved in the African Catholic Universities Quality Assurance Pilot Project with Project Office in St. Augustine University of Tanzania, Mwanza and participating in the Quality Rating Mechanism (QRM) for African Higher Education of the African Union as well as ongoing processes of the National Universities Commission (NUC) towards institutional accreditation and assuring quality in Nigerian universities.
As you navigate through this page, we welcome you to the VUNA Quality Assurance Office. We welcome your contributions and criticisms to make Veritas University not only a pride in Catholic higher education but a University where best international practices are the norm.
Bede Anyaegbunam, PhD
Director, VUNA Quality Assurance Office
