In keeping with the vision of Veritas University Abuja, the Management organized an orientation programme for the Non-Teaching staff on Thursday, October 8, 2009 at the Obehie Take-off Campus, Abia State.
The programme started with Communal Prayer, Hymns and Praises in the University Chapel, before the Principal Officers drilled the staff in various ways to improve on their services to the University.
The Vice-Chancellor, Rev. Fr. Professor Justin S. Ukpong who spoke on Distinctive Characteristics, reiterated vision of the University and urged the staff to be guided by the principles of hard work, integrity, discipline and creativeness in discharging their duties.
He added that in spite of the existence of many Universities in Nigeria, the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria, CBCN established the University to provide high quality tertiary education according to the noble tradition of the Catholic Church.
The Registrar, Chief Mojisola O. Ladipo,mni spoke on Work ethics, staff Evaluation and Promotion and gave highlights to Character, Team work, Appearance, Attitude, Productivity, Organizational skills and Communication.
The Bursar, Mrs Elizabeth I. Opara explained the Financial Process and Staff Remuneration Structure, while the University Librarian, Dr. Mrs. Ekwere E. O. Akpan dealt with the Use of Library.
Also, there was Eucharistic Celebration with the Vice-Chancellor, Rev. Fr. Ukpong as the Chief Celebrant and the University Chaplain, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Okwara as the Co-Celebrant.
In his homily, Rev. Fr. Ukpong who is a Professor of the New Testament, charged the staff to live in a way to be identified as Christians, saying that early Christians lived together and their attitudes were distinctive.
