VUNA SCORES 100% IN NUC ACCREDITATION EXERCISE

Sunday, June 24, 2012: It was joy and thanksgiving on Sunday, June 24, 2012 when the Vice Chancellor, Professor David I. Ker, OON announced at the 9.00am Eucharistic celebration that the University had secured full accreditation for all its nine programmes. The Vice Chancellor who was elated by the news noted that it was a rare feat for a new university to have all its programmes given full accreditation by the National Universities Commission (NUC) on first time accreditation visit. He then called on all to remain prayer and thankful for the wonders which the Lord had done. In his homily, the University Chaplain, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Okwara traced the existence of the University to the pre-commencement period when he was the only staff on campus and the era of security challenges that nearly caused the demise of Project Veritas. The Chaplain who was full of praises to God, the Vice Chancellor and members of the Management, as well as staff and students was happy that the University has stabilized following the efforts of the Vice Chancellor. The Chaplain prayed that the success achieved by the University should be sustained in order to actualize the aim of being rated among the top ten Universities in the world. Speaking on behalf of the students of the University, President of the Student Representatives Association (SRA), Livinus Clinton Diji thanked the Vice Chancellor for making the students proud by working towards getting full accreditation of all VUNA academic programmes. Mr Diji promised that the students will reciprocate the great honour by being more studious and disciplined so as to put the success to positive use. It would be recalled the University presented the following nine programmes: Accounting; Applied Microbiology; Economics; English and Literary Studies; History and International Relations; Industrial Chemistry; Marketing and Advertising; Political Science and Diplomacy; and Physics with Electronics for which all were granted full accreditation following the NUC accreditation exercise which took place March 27-39, 2012.
